Green Origins’ (GO) journey of growth is a testament to its relentless pursuit of ethical sourcing, environmental stewardship, and nutritional innovation. It all began in 2008 when Green Origins Superfoods was established. The superfoods and wholefoods markets were in their infancy, and Green Origins were discovering the benefits of ingredients such as Acai and Micro Algae for consumers consumption. What resulted was, and is today, a business focused on the sourcing and supply of organic, plant-based ingredients, where traceability, sustainability and quality are integral and the “green vein” that runs through the business.
As the years passed, Green Origins saw remarkable expansion. By 2015, the team had grown significantly, enabling the importation of a diverse portfolio of 20 organic superfoods. This period of growth also marked the launch of retail brands, including Green Origins and Rainforest Foods, further solidifying Green Origins’ presence in the industry and offering consumers even greater access to organic and sustainable products.
By 2017, Green Origins had outgrown its initial infrastructure, necessitating a move to a larger warehouse and production facility in Sheffield. This relocation facilitated the importation of over 50 superfoods, ensuring that Green Origins could meet the increasing demand from environmentally conscious consumers seeking high-quality, sustainable superfood products.
2020 marked a significant milestone for Green Origins as it boasted a workforce of 45 employees and expanded its product range to include over 80 superfoods. With a growing global footprint, Green Origins emerged as a key player in supplying businesses worldwide with ethically sourced and environmentally friendly products.
The latest stage of GO Superfoods growth journey was in 2022, when it was acquired by the Humble Group Co. Sweden, a dynamic and innovative FMCG group that delivers products that are beneficial for both consumers and the planet. The group has signed up to the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, as well as using the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guiding framework for their own sustainability activities across all of their business operations.
Right from the start, GO Superfoods products have only ever been naturally good for their customers. Their trade has always been fair, and their commitment to the planet and its people has never wavered. They have created a wholefood and superfood business that is ethical as well as socially and environmentally responsible. They have committed themselves to creating shared values with their suppliers, ensuring that food is produced without human and animal suffering as well as food being produced with minimum impact to the environment.
At the core of the Green Origins business is a determination to deliver best in class, authentic, safe, and sustainable organic superfood ingredients. These are then ready for manufacturers to create supplements and functional food for consumer consumption. What started with an interest in the benefits of superfoods, has grown into a business that sources the world’s most nutritious and sustainable plant-based products. Created to bring producers and consumers of natural superfoods closer together.
As Green Origins transitions into this new chapter with the Humble Group, it remains steadfast in its commitment to environmental responsibility, nutritional innovation, and rigorous quality control.
