A charcuterie platter without lyoner? A visit to the butcher without a lyoner greeting for the little ones? In Switzerland unimaginable. Thanks to Planted , the plant-based version is now the new standard. The Swiss foodtech start-up is launching its first plant-based, clean-label lyoner-style cold cuts in time for Veganuary. With the new planted.aufschnitt Lyoner, Planted is opening up completely new culinary perspectives for flexitarians in Switzerland, especially in ready-to-eat areas such as breakfast, Z’Vieri and snacks, which have not been adequately served up to now. The Lyoner expands the existing plant-based meat range from Planted and enables a holistic eating experience throughout the day.
At the heart of Planted ‘s philosophy is the elimination of additives. The aim is to create sustainable, tasty and healthy plant-based products and set a new standard in this emerging category. Over 65 scientific research and product development experts at the Planted headquarters in Kemptthal are continuously working to take plant-based food technology to a new level.
To put inside and on top: the cleanest cold cutswithout sacrificing taste
The planted.aufschnitt Lyoner proves that even a quick snack can be a place for innovation. More and more people are striving for a healthier and more sustainable diet and therefore want to reduce their consumption of animal meat. However, consumers often fall back on traditional meat products, especially when it comes to cold cuts. With the new Lyoner, Planted has created the solution: a plant-based cold cut with excellent taste, authentic texture and only natural ingredients – including pea protein, rapeseed oil, water, spices, yeast, salt and vitamin B12. Nothing more!
The planted.aufschnitt Lyoner therefore not only offers a far more sustainable and healthier option in the meat substitute market, but also in comparison to animal-based Lyoner. With only natural ingredients, it is the cleanest cold cut on the market and contains less saturated fat, fewer additives, but more protein than its animal equivalent. An additional fermentation step in the production process specially developed by Planted gives the Lyoner its excellent taste profile – it tastes like the animal original and offers the same first-class eating experience. The plant-based lyoner is also ecologically convincing: compared to its animal counterpart, it saves 34% CO2 and 51% water.
The needs of consumers are a key driver for Planted when developing new products. “Our goal is to support people in making an animal-free diet effortless, without sacrifice and with purely natural ingredients – we don’t stop at Switzerland’s most popular cold cut, Lyoner,” emphasizes Pascal Bieri, co-founder of Planted.
